Bbq Low Flame

If your natural gas bbq has a low, yellow flame and isn't giving out much heat, the regulator might be stuck. To remedy this, turn off the gas and disconnect the grill. Open the lid and turn all the controls to a high setting for a minute or so. Turn them off, reconnect the gas line and light the grill again. Low flame or flashback (fire in burner tube - a hissing or roaring noise may be heard) The LP gas bottle may be too small: If the bottle is too small, it will not provide enough flow to run all the burners, particularly when using butane gas and the outdoor temperature falls below 10°C.

Why Does Low Flame Happen? Low flame issues are common with any kind of propane stove or grill because of the safety mechanism in each regulator. Regulators are designed with a special mechanism to limit gas flow in the event of a leak. Here's the idea. If your grill has more than 65,000 BTU's, a 3/8" hose may not allow enough gas to flow. In this case a 1/2" hose is recommended. If your grill is natural gas, there could be a low gas line pressure or there could be an increase in the gas demand thus causing low gas pressure. If you do own a natural gas grill and you are experiencing low pressure please contact your local gas company.
